With summer flooding of basements in the Milwaukee area this year, homeowners need to be smart and cautious when it comes to their heating units and water heating units.  The Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA) strictly emphasizes that any gas appliance (furnace, water heater, clothes dryer) that has had water over the level of the burners should be REPLACED, without attempting to repair it.

D and M Heating agrees with this warning.  Our technicians will evaluate your equipment for damage, but we will not attempt to light or start water damaged appliances.

If you have any questions regarding flooded equipment, please call our office at 414-281-5350.

1/22/2008 Carrier Launches Infinity™ Air Purifier 1/22/2008
INDIANAPOLIS, IND., Jan. 22, 2008 – Continuing its dedication to offering healthy home solutions with advanced indoor air quality products, Carrier Corporation, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), introduces the most advanced indoor air quality product to ever hit the market - the new Infinity™ Air Purifier. Unlike other products that merely capture particles from the air, the Infinity Air Purifier both captures and kills airborne allergens, bacteria, molds and viruses. It combines superior filtration efficiency with pathogen-killing technology to deliver maximum air purification against airborne germs and allergens with optimal comfort for homeowners. The new product from Carrier improves indoor air quality while maintaining the efficiency, reliability and performance of Carrier's Infinity System.

"When Dr. Willis Carrier invented air conditioning more than 100 years ago, one of his primary objectives for 'conditioning the air' included addressing indoor air quality," said Halsey Cook, president, Carrier Residential and Light Commercial. "We were the first to address IAQ, and years later, Carrier continues to push the envelope with product research and development. The Infinity Air Purifier reflects Carrier's dedication to offering superior products and healthy home solutions."

What You Can't See Can Hurt You

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Americans spend more than 90 percent of their time indoors, where pollution levels can be two to five times - and occasionally more than 100 times - higher than outdoor levels. The air in even the cleanest homes can harbor dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander, mold and other airborne contaminants. Unlike portable room devices or bypass filters, the Infinity Air Purifier treats 100 percent of the conditioned air to capture airborne germs and allergens. Its patented technology then kills captured mold spores, bacteria and viruses, which makes it unique in its ability to purify the air. "There's no question that homeowners today are concerned about IAQ," said home improvement expert Lou Manfredini. "The home building industry has evolved significantly in areas of efficiency and tighter construction. With that, consumers are looking to properly ventilate their homes. The Infinity Air Purifier is by far the best solution the IAQ market has seen."

The core technology of this product was originally designed by Lawrence Livermore National Labs to help protect the air in secure government facilities. The device purifies the air in a three-step process. First, precision-point ionization charges particles entering the device. Second, the charged particles are captured on a unique media cartridge. Finally, using ion bombardment and an electric current flow, the media kills captured pathogens such as airborne tuberculosis bacteria, aspergillus and other fungal spores, pneumonia bacteria, and even the virus that causes measles. Since 100 percent of the air passing through the furnace or air-conditioner is treated by the Infinity Air Purifier, most of the air in the home will be treated as often as three to eight times per hour when used as part of a complete Infinity System.

Maintenance-Free Purification

The Infinity Air Purifier offers worry-free operation, requiring no cleaning. Maintenance is limited to the periodic replacement of the special media cartridge, typically once a year. Because of the unique technology involving the ion stream and electric current, once the particles are trapped inside, they are killed. For homeowners, this means the particles will not re-enter their environment when it's time to replace the cartridge. This top-of the-line product boasts one of the highest efficiencies on the market and is compatible with any HVAC system. When used with the complete Carrier Infinity System, it provides its best performance and features maintenance reminders using Carrier's patented TrueSense™ dirty filter detection technology.
