In addition, Carrier offers some of the industry’s best

luxury. Now it is a necessity for many. We are happy to evaluate the system in your home, and provide a comfort solution that works for you.
What is “high efficiency”? The minimum efficiency for current air conditioners is 13 SEER. Our current high efficient units are 13 SEER and up. The minimum standard was raised to 13 in 2006. This is nearly a 23% reduction in operating cost. What is SEER? SEER is the industries measure of efficiency. It stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The higher the number, the more efficient the unit is. For example, a unit that is 10 to 15 years old was commonly an 10 SEER unit. Let’s assume it costs $100 to run for a given month. A 13 SEER unit, running in the exact same month and conditions, would have cooled the same space for approximately $77. Our most efficient unit, a 21 SEER, would have done the job for approximately $48. Can I still get Freon? It is being produced at a lower rate, and will continue to be produced at a lower and lower rate, until it is phased out completely in 2020. New units that use freon are phased out earlier. What about the new refrigerant, Puron®? Puron is the replacement refrigerant being used in most manufactures’ residential systems. Puron® refrigerant is environmentally sound and won’t deplete the ozone layer. It was introduced in 1996. Carrier was the first manufacturer to introduce this refrigerant, and has had the highest reliability. The temperatures and performance of Puron feel the same, if not better, to most homeowners. Carrier’s top central air conditioner is the Infinity 21. It is a two-speed air conditioner, providing the best in comfort and dehumidification.
It is the quietest unit Carrier produces, often no louder then the average refrigerator.
